I have a pretty strong optical prescription, and even I don't like wearing things on my face. (which is why I always wear contacts)
And I'm apparently not alone. Not wanting to wear glasses seems to be the primary reason 3D TV remains a fad to this day.
Yeah I try to wear my contacts as much as possible, cuz wearing glasses is annoying. And yeah, wearing glasses for 3D was some real sh1t. My parents have a Samsung HDTV with active 3D, the dang glasses needed batteries, and the 3D effect f*cked with my eyes. Gave me hella eye fatigue, and sometimes headaches. And you can't wear glasses when you are already wearing glasses. I mean I tried it a few times, that was stupid. So contacts were basically a requirement for using those 3D glasses. A friend of mine that is into PSVR, when he got the PS5 version, he had to special-order custom lenses so he could use the VR headset without his glasses, since he couldn't wear glasses
and wear the VR set.
A friend had a TV with passive 3D, which agreed with my eyes much better. Still though you have to wear glasses. That's why I appreciated the 3DS having glasses-free 3D. It was kinda rough in the old 3DS cuz you had to hold the system in the right position at the right distance, but the New 3DS had eye tracking and produced a better 3D effect that was also a lot more convenient, cuz let's face it, with a handheld system you're not gonna be sitting
absolutely still like a statue. Some games used it well, but most of the time it was a gimmick, a novelty, and on the old 3DS, turning on the 3D would also incur a performance hit (same deal with 3D on the PS3, where for example a 60fps game would now be 30fps).
I also can't stand wearing headphones for very long. I'm a speaker guy. Seems like everyone and their brother only does PC audio through some kind of headset. Not me.
You don't use the metaverse; the metaverse uses you.
That I do not doubt.
