Smoking hot deal! 32gb DDR5 for only $400! /s

I gotta love that the profit margin on selling ram right now is SO high (or risk of not selling RIGHT now is so high) that they are budling corsair link AIO's. I think I paid 130 for my 360 Corsair link AIO.

We're deep into "if you have a functional computer, do everything to keep it functional" territory here.
Time to buy rosary beads :p

I've had one used PC failure that I can remember. Got i3-6100 HP office PC with a 1060 mining card that worked in Windows with an older driver or worked in Linux. The PC died after cleaning it with a 3M dust blower. The mining card survived and I sent it to my friend in the UK. He took it out coz the fans ran at full speed and he didn't want to keep using Win10 with older driver and use MSI Afterburner to slow down the fan.

I almost posted on some of these here yesterday when I saw mention on Tom's but when I clicked on the link, the combo's were already sold out. Yep, pretty much the same thing Newegg was doing with GPUs when all the crap happened with them. I even saw a joke post on reddit where someone mentioned they could probably make a profit by somehow desoldering ram from macbooks and reselling them. Some crazy f-up times we live in.

I'll be that guy. :devilish:

Am I the only one that remembers when gaming PCs were expensive, especially in adjusted dollars? And aged out way faster? I feel like we get sucked into ragebait over and over like Groundhog day.

If a good gaming PC cost me 3K instead of 1K to spec out, no BFD from my POV. Still be a uber cheap hobby in my age group. Cars, motorcycles, boats, guns, watches, etc. are far more expensive. Hell, I have friends that spend more on eating out every year than I do on PC gaming. /attempt to inject perspective. Now back to the regularly scheduled programming. :p

Yeah but the fear is (as it was during COVID and for some time afterwards) that we won't have DIY gaming as a hobby anymore if things keep going this way. It's been one thing after the other against what many of us consider OUR way of life. It's that fear of having to live in a world where there's not much to do because we are sooooooooooo digitally inclined now that any thought of having to do real life activities to curb boredom seems and sounds absolutely horrifying to most of us. What? Go out and take a walk???? Do some sports??? Are you insane??? What kind of a world is that to live in??? :D

FUD over PC gaming dying is almost as old as the hobby. I think it peaked when the PC section in stores like Best Buy shrunk to a tiny display area on a couple of shelves. When it used to be 3 aisle on both sides.

PS2 made console super popular again. Then the 360 and PS3 came out with a serious generational graphics improvement. Meanwhile, Steam was far from being a juggernaut. In fact: Many of us were still spicy about physical media dying because we knew this current, own nothing and like it BS, would be the outcome. Here we are.

The number of brands may shrink, and the cost increase significantly, but retail should not die off. Don't forget, Cyberpower, iBuyPower, and all the other S.I.s that don't use proprietary parts. It should provide enough financial incentive to service the market for builder selectable parts.

Uhh... It looks like I'm not going to upgrade my CPU next year.
