Did download but didn't have time to try but the gameplay footage I saw pretty much looked the same as you describe.
 
Granted, it has been several years since I played them, but this looks like the previous Styx games ... with upgraded graphics.
 
Weird artistic choice to have some environments with great lighting while others have almost no special lighting and crappy looking dull colored textures that look like they were made in the PS3 era.
