The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the big-budget TV series for Prime Video that is set thousands of years before the novels from J. R. R. Tolkien, depicting the major events of Middle-earth's Second Age, will officially return in the form of a second season, according to a tweet that the @TheRingsofPower account shared this morning about how a teaser trailer for the second part is set to premiere tomorrow, on Tuesday, May 14.

I'm not a Lord of the Rings fan to begin with. That being said, its my understanding that they botched the lore and disrespected the source material in just about every way possible. The special effects, acting and writing have all been criticized. From the clips of it I've seen, that's all warranted. The show seemed to be almost universally reviled. I'm sure it has its defenders but when it seems like the majority of LoTR fans hate it, then there are probably very good reasons why that's the case.

But if you like it, then enjoy it.

I've seen three episodes and never was invested.
 
I'm a fan of the books. Read both the original and unabridged/extended, whatever they were back in the late 80's early 90s. Never read the The Silmarillion though. Liked the original movies and 1st Hobbit and the Bakshi film. That being said, I barely made it through the 1st season and did find it a bit of a torture. I'm not saying that I didn't find some parts enjoyable, mainly the Dwarf stuff, but the rest was far more tedious than I care for.

I'm sure I'll check in for a bit for the 2nd season but doubtful I'll make it through it.

Dan_D is right, it was mediocre at best. I mean, if you like it - good on you. But then you would have probably watched it all already to know you liked it.

If the premise wasn’t enough to send you out to watch it already - then yeah, it really isn’t good enough to go back and catch up on.

It was just Bezos’ way of spending a ton of money to LARP

No, you just aren't paying attention, or don't give a F about lore, and logical consistency if you like it. You become a shill if you then try to defend the show and say those who take issue with it are actually in the wrong.

A ton of people loved the new Fallout show, doesn't make it any less full of plot holes and nonsensical writing. The only truth is that quality is no guarantee for success, and success is not proof of quality.

No-one is barring you from liking a show, you take issue with others criticizing it.

Pointing out that a show has plotholes is not accusing you of being less, it's just pointing out that there are plotholes. You either ignored them or didn't notice, which is fine. If you choose to take that as an insult that's entirely on you. Offense is taken, not given.

You might as well state: "I love this, therefore any criticism you levy against it I'll take as a personal insult" Which is a discussion ender, and really not productive.

If all opinions are worthless then why even express them? Why listen to critics if their opinion is worth the same as a drunkard's who is drowning in piss in a bar toilet?

Some opinions are worthless, like the ones without substance, that only express hate or love for the thing without giving any reasons. But giving reasons also only make it worthwhile if they are factually correct and understandable to a 3rd party.

I don't think opinions are worthless, I like hearing others opinions, I want to encourage discussion. But it is not possible if people just get upset and retreat into their turtle shells when someone has a different take on a show than them.
