After months of speculation (and ugly development kit photos), Sony has finally revealed the design of the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, it’s already being mocked by gamers, many of whom are comparing the next-generation console’s aesthetics to Alienware cases. Others insist that it’s just a big, futurisitic, two-toned router.

“At launch, we will offer two options: a PlayStation 5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition without a disc drive,” wrote Sony.

“The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is all yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that’s bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of...

I'd go with the drive but my PS4 is a glorified blue ray player and media streaming device at this point.

My GF bought me a PS4 for Christmas last year and I've used it a total of probably 5 times since then. Probably won't be getting one of these, but who knows. It does have a nice sleek look.

Depending on the price I might get one with a drive. It'll also depend on the streaming apps available and what features the drive has. Has to be able to output DolbyVision/Atmos for both. Sure I'll play games on it but let's face it, many buy these things to watch movies while having the option of good gaming experiences.

I'm not thrilled by the looks though. I have to admit, though, that Sony consistently breaks the mold with each new model. Other than being black the PS2(slim/non-slim), PS3, and PS4 all were shaped fairly differently. Although, I think this is a bit too extreme of a departure.

I have greatly enjoyed my PS4, but only used the drive a handful of times (when I can’t get MakeMKV to work). Most of my content is digital - primarily because I’m too lazy to get up and chance out discs.

I would get a drive here, as it would be a nice UHD BR player, which I don’t currently own. I don’t own a lot of 4K content, but that could change.

I like it... If the vertical standing is a requirement, im in a little trouble, but otherwise, i think looks okay. Better than the 3 or 4 .

I think I read somewhere that vertical is not a requirement, it can lay on it's side like a normal console.

Hey I posted that in the Lounge like a week ago :)
I missed that-just saw it randomly this morning while looking at some other tweets.

I admit though, I did feel a sense of deja vu with it but I attributed that to fatigue.
