We did run a story about Lossless Scaling a while back, but I didn't see any mention in it about how it also supports using a 2nd GPU to offload certain tasks to.

Definitely not SLI, but it reminds me more of the days when you could dedicate PhysX (when it still mattered) to a GPU. I saw this on MSN yesterday, and for folks with older tech and builds where they can still run two graphics cards, this might be worth checking out.

Slot powered cards are perfect for the task.

There for a bit last year, when 32bit PhysX support was removed, some were dedicating older Nvidia cards to the task.

I'll never forget my one-time monster build back in the day and I've mentioned it here more than a few times in other threads. It had a GIGABYTE UD3 X79 (1.1)motherboard and 4930K that I got both for ~$400 during a BF deal. Neither the best for overclocking but managed to hit 4.3 GHz on air (I know a bit under what the 3930K could do), paired with I think were 32 GB 2133 MHz G.Skill (quad). The part of this that was the funnest was using 2x OC'd 970s in SLI and then a 780 for PhysX. CPU supported 40 lanes so all cards got their full bandwidth and for the handful of games that supported this setup, I was doing some 4K 50-60+ FPS gaming back then using max settings. On top of that I think the motherboard had 2 or 3 raid chips and a ton of SATA III ports so I had a bunch of drives in it as well. I admit repurposing it briefly during the mining craze with whatever GPUs I had on hand at the time and making a little bit of money with it before that ended.

Thing was a beast and good times for sure. I kind of miss it but still really appreciate what I've accomplished with the current AM4/AM5 builds, btw the Cooler Master HAF X in this thread is the same the above build made its way to before being retired.
