If this were 2560x1440 it'd be great....but **** with the 1080P crap.
I mostly agree and I'd blame it on the recent popularity of esports. Seems like a lot of marketing from various companies these days for "faster" to give you "that competitive edge" stuff. Unfortunate since this display does check a lot of the right boxes otherwise. On the flip side 1080p can allow someone to build a budget rig but then again a budget build is unlikely to be able to push upwards of 240 frames at 1080p for most games anyway.

They do have a 1440p version here. Mostly the same thing but 144Hz with a 165Hz OC. It too is an IPS panel but 10bit color. Looks identical as well. One seller on Amazon has it for $688. A little pricey but it is a 10bit/IPS versus 8bit/VA that supports up to 1.07b colors. I'd honestly probably recommend something more along these lines. The only thing missing is HDR and it's only 350 cd/m2.

I already own a 27" Aorus that's 2k, IPS, 10bit and 144hz G-Sync. For me a 27" fits my desk best. I wouldn't mind 240hz at 2k res though.
