I've mostly been a Sony person when it comes t consoles. Presently don't have any, and haven't since PS2, but I'm keeping a close eye on the next generations coming around 2020 it seems.

Too true. It seems both Sony and MS are already throwing that tag in for their next gens. Can't say I've ever heard of trying to future-proof sales for tech that's not even out yet.

There's usually quite a few years in between platforms so I wonder if they have inside info on how fast 8k screens will drop in price. It's pretty doubtful that people will be streaming 8k games so they might be looking ahead to capture gamers who need to scratch the latest-greatest itch once they drop in price. I, for one, would be happy with a wall of micro LEDs for a reasonable price.
