After years of rumors, yet more content is officially getting added to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with Songs of the Past DLC. From industry insiders leaking info to outside personnel who’re privy to CDPR’s goings on, there’ve been rumors circulating for some time that new DLC was in the works and that it would […]

As much as I enjoyed my time with W3, I really hope we don't have to replay the game to access the new DLC and that it is its own independent story outside of the main game's progression. I ain't got time to replay that beast of a game.

Also, while I doubt the new DLC will be a free add on for any of us GOTY edition owners, I hope it's priced appropriately/accessibly. More like $10 than $30.

Isn't the Witcher 4 supposed to be out by then? Or is this the cryptic announcement of that being delayed to 2028?

You don't still have your save files?

I don't like going back to old saves, once I'm done with them. I'd rather experience new content with a clean slate than with all the baggage from a playthrough done years ago.

-No idea, but maybe I'd be able to just start off from my final Tousant save.
The game supports cloud saves on both Steam and GOG, so whichever version you used should have the save data backed up online (for GOG I think you need to be using GOG Galaxy for cloud save functionality though). While cloud saves are nice, I always manually back up my saves for every game I play too.

Yep, this game actually had some pretty awful cloud save mechanics thanks to autosaving. Granted, I think you could turn it off but at significant risk given how much could happen in a short span of time leaving important events unsaved, but I left mine on. For most probably not an issue but after close to two dozen playthroughs I maxed out what GOG and Steam save limits were and eventually just made a local backup of the important stuff and would then regularly delete cloud stuff to keep it to a minimum. I've ended up using a similar strategy for Oblivion Remastered but more so because MS really screwed up that one.

In regard to The Witcher IV release date, 2027 is the earliest it might get here but I'm thinking 2028. CDPR knows they can't screw this up, especially given the many changes involved with it. This DLC is likely intended to help increase or regain playerbase ahead of its release.

What I'm really bummed about is that the first game remake in UE5 won't be here until after the fourth game. Given that it was outsourced I really feel that it should've already been in alpha by now. Oh, well, I mean its only been around four years since being announced and as much as I want this DLC I'd have more fun replaying that remake version.

- Given essentially all the assets are there from W3, its a shame they didn't do a W1 remake using W3 assets and the Red Engine. Figure it would have been something they could have easily put together within a year and half.

Wonder if the idea is to share assets between W1R and W4 in order to get that "trilogy in 6 years" goal accomplished.
