FWIW, this could be more of a Windows driver issue. I know someone who sometimes plays ETQW as well, also has a 7900XTX, and they used to have crashes to desktop when playing. They have since switched to Linux, and the crashes have gone away.

What driver set are you on?

Why are you still running Windows 8.1 on this computer? Surely Windows 10 or a Linux could be better? It's not like Windows 10 has a lot of updates these days, and even Windows 11 could be configured for updates reduced or turned off.

I agree, it would be great if Starcraft titles could come to steam. I don't see why they couldn't, Diablo games are on steam. Only problem is I would likely have to buy the games on steam a 2nd time, unless they allow you to import your account.
