The Radeon RX 8800 XT, one of AMD's next-generation graphics cards, will feature a 220-watt TDP—43 watts lower than the Radeon RX 7800 XT's 263-watt TBP—according to Seasonic, the company best known for its range of high-quality power supplies for consumer PCs and other market segments.

If the performance claim of "similar to 4080" is true, then this is very impressive. Around a 33% reduction in power / increase in efficiency compared to nVidia's last gen.

Of course, there will be a 5070 or 5080 to compare it to soon I'm sure. Hopefully it sees similar improvements.

Yea if they don't start getting more efficient we will need 220 outlets to run our systems. Atleast in the US.

Agreed but I have my doubts and I hope I'm wrong about them. That would truly be impressive.

My 4080 SUPER usually hangs in the upper 200s, low 300s at just under 3 GHz, 24,200 MHz while gaming at 4K 120Hz (usually DLSS Quality with occasional frame gen) and I find that very impressive compared to the 4090 (DLAA with or without framegen) pulling 400-519W depending on the game at similar clock/mem speeds, resolution, and refresh rate (although I do sometimes play on the new TLC 85" at 4K/144Hz).

All the rumors I have seen up until now indicate 4070 TI levels of performance.
If it was 4080 levels I may bite on that depending on the price.

It'll come down to price point. I doubt the 8800 XT will be more than $600. While the 5080 is going to be $1200+. Not even in the same league.
