Buyout Deal Worth $82 Billion Could See Netflix Gain Access to Warner Bros. Game IPs Such as Batman, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat

Funny thing is I already got an email from Netflix about the merger, seems they jumped the gun a bit.

I basically give Netflix's offer a snowball's chance you no where in succeeding, regardless of if they come up with a counter offer. In order to avoid breaking our rule on politics all I can say is the deck is heavily stacked against them. For those not in the know, research who currently owns Paramount.

Bottom line is WB shouldn't go to either of them and there were some articles about why Netflix is a bad fit that had valid points but one of these two is already likely to be approved before regulators ever see the paperwork.

Can you actually build anything in these games or are they all "story mode" games only?

There IS a Lego game more akin to Minecraft where you can build pretty much anything, including vehicles, can't remember its name though.

Hopefully this means that WB will stop killing their successful gaming IPs with BS MTX/Live service nonsense.

WB is such a weird publisher. They do a fantastic job maintaining the integrity of their IPs when making games, but then can't seem to let go of wanting to make live service slop either.

Guess we can see more games coming to Netflix as well.
Gaming division's future is sketchy at best - https://www.eurogamer.net/warner-br...x-acquisition?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us

Yeah but even if they fold the division, that talent is gonna regroup somewhere.
But they won't get to take DC Comics or any of the other IP with them.

My hope is Netflix will let people that love the comics, the characters, the movies, and the books, make the games. Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights are examples of not understanding the fandom. Hogwarts is a great example of what happens when they do. I want more of that.

While they are at it, make a great Superman game. I played the crap out of the 360 game. It was not well received, but it has some bright spots that kept me playing. Flying was great, and for the hardware, visually impressive. Maxing out his powers and combat moves was gratifying. Quickly figuring out which ones worked on which enemies, and putting together the best combos. The rest of the game, from story to grinding, was where it sucked most of the fun out. Started out with a great boss battle, then rarely hit that high point again.

I liked that they fixed the incredibly frustrating flying through rings challenges from the N64? version. I remember AVGN ranting about how bad it was. On the 360 version, I was able to beat all of them. A few were definitely challenging, but again, flying was fun. I modded GTA4, so my kid could be Iron Man and the Hulk. It made me question why they did not do a game for those characters with that level of open world attention. They could make a banger of a Superman game.

I don't think WB or Netflix understands why Hogwarts Legacy was so successful. They view it as an anomaly, not as a blueprint to follow. I doubt even its inevitable sequel will follow the blueprint. It'll loose touch with what made the first game a success.

Depressingly on point.

Let's hope the decision makers are smart enough to use the - if it ain't broke, don't fix it, managerial style.

Ah, Hogwarts, another game I forgot that's on my replay list for 2026. I've been holding off because while it's pretty easy just to do the basic campaign run, I quickly realized how fun, but exhausting, it was to grind away at all the side stuff. Got 99% (due to a glitch in the game when it should've been 100%), and one of the very few games I commit that level of completion effort to on a 1st run.

However, it was exhausting enough that I've held back from doing a 2nd run since but have been wanting to. It was fun to play the PlayStation DLC that finally got added as well and would like to experience it again but within the main story context on a 2nd run.

flying was fun.
Destiny has something like that I think?

Also, the Superman mod for UE5 Matrix Demo was pretty fun too. Ran it on i7-5775C + 3090 back in 2019 and I was impressed with how far graphics fidelity had come.

Regarding GTA, one of my favorite activities in it (never played it seriously for the story missions) was finding the dodo plane and flying over the city. Now if there were more planes in it and we could bomb stuff and crash into buildings and stuff with real physical damage and chaos, man, that kind of level of detail would really have been the cherry on top.

Hopefully they make their own clone superhero with a twisted origin story if they can't negotiate a license for the IP(s).

Probably unpopular opinion: I had TONS of fun with Oni on PC. The graphics were not that great and the whole game looked like an unfinished tech demo but it was fun to battle multiple enemies. Devil May Cry and Batman just refined that formula, at least in my opinion because I hadn't played any game with a combat system like Oni before. It was IGN probably who said that anyone who enjoys playing Oni just really wants to get Konoko (the female protagonist) pregnant. I wouldn't have minded that :D

Just a heads up there's a little info about the WB game stuff that I came across yesterday. If I don't post it tomorrow I'll probably include for the weekend pair. Almost did it today but decided to do the CB2077 post instead.
