A new trailer for BioWare’s heavily anticipated trio of Mass Effect remasters, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, will supposedly be released sometime next weekend. The rumor comes from Wushu Studio’s (Baldur’s Gate III, Destruction AllStars) shinobi602, who recently posted in a thread on ResetEra celebrating Mass Effect 2’s birthday and teased that it would be coming “soon.”

“They wouldn’t drop news on a Friday, right?,” one user asked, to which shinobi602 replied, “not quite that soon, but soon.” Skepticism from another poster compelled the Wushu Studios employee to elaborate further and suggest that the trailer could be just a week away. “You can survive one more weekend,” he...

Good. I'm getting tired of playing Call of Duty lol

I'm in... always was, since the first game was released.

Be nice if they don't cock this one up.

I'm waiting to see if it will be a ripoff (cost the same regardless of you owning all 3 of the games already). In that case hard pass, no matter what.

It's new work, I think the price should be commensurate with the value.

So yeah, if they halfarsed it and then seek to charge US$80, it'll be a pain point, but if they did an outstanding job at say US$60?

Pick your price points for what matters to you, but that's how I look at it.

I've had enough letdowns with old IPs making modern comebacks that I'll wait on this until I read some reviews. Not overly concerned with price but not going to drop a penny unless I read some good things about it. If it turns out to be superb, then I'll probably get the same week it comes out. Otherwise, depending on the other end of the spectrum, it could end up being one of those I grab on some sale.

I replay Mass Effect 1-3 once every year or so and I'm due up for a replay soon and have been itching for it so I'm still down for a copy even if it's just a mild texture refresh. As long as it isn't broken, I'm in.

There's really nothing out there that I'm into right now. Like I said, pretty much all I play now is COD so that would be another reason why I'm in for a copy even before the reviews. I'm hoping it'll spark my love of PC gaming back up again.

What I mean is if I don't get a discount for having all 3 games with all dlcs in my library, over those who don't have any of it, I'll not buy it regardless of the price. They shouldn't make loyal fans buy everything over again.

You're not. You're buying a remaster, which involves new work. I can see them offering an incentive to owners of the games, but I don't see why they shouldn't charge for their work.

Did I say free? I don't think so. I'd say 15% off for each game you already have in your library. So if you have two 30% off, if all three, 45% off regular newbie price. But since this is EA they'll just want to skullrape existing fans.

I think a discount to owners of the series makes sense. and a remaster can be a lot of work especially if it is a new engine to boot. Do we know the extent of the remaster?

It looks like retextures of the original games. Hell, I can do that. (As I made textures for ME2 and ME3.) I'm still onboard for a copy, for ME1 and ME2 if nothing else. However, you can obtain similar fidelity to ME3 Remastered with mods. Plus, there are mods to change the endings, etc. This also doesn't scream Frostbite to me. It may have been left in the original ending, or ported to UE4. We'll have to wait and see.

A compressed Youtube video isn't the best to gain impressions from. According to BioWare nearly every aspect of the visual and audio systems were improved. Though 2K said the same thing about the Bioshock remaster and that turned out to be a big fat lie.

This is true. I'll find out for myself regardless.

They improved the 1st game the rest is remastered, looks like the engine was left as is (at least for 2 and 3) as changing to ue4 would have meant a complete remake which they did not want to do.

according to some article on pcgamer In Mass Effect: Legendary Edition the first game is a partial remake, the sequels are remasters | PC Gamer

Based on the trailer, it looks like they simply made new textures for the game. Honestly, it looks pretty good. It will still show its age somewhat, but it should be a good experience. That being said, I am looking forward to playing an improved ME1.
