Mass Effect Legendary Edition Trailer Rumored for Release Next Weekend

It really already supported that. It ran fine on a 7680x1600 NVSurround setup I was running at the time it came out.
I admit I haven't gone back to it since getting a 32:9 display and when I've played it before it was simply on a single 1080p back in the day.

Based on the trailer, it looks like they simply made new textures for the game. Honestly, it looks pretty good. It will still show its age somewhat, but it should be a good experience. That being said, I am looking forward to playing an improved ME1.

I'm looking forward to playing ME1 for the first time.

It's the most different from the rest of the series and my least favorite as a result. It's a really good game, just not my favorite of them. I would probably have more nostalgic feelings towards it if I had played it first. Instead, I started with ME2 and went back and played ME1 after the fact.

I watched a... Gamestop video on it. It's all still UE3, through and through, perhaps upgraded visually as far as UE3 will let them, and with as many bug fixes that they could implement.

Mostly, higher-resolution, HDR, and high framerate support are all on the plate for the whole series, and your characters should stay consistent in look from beginning to end, which will be nice.

So yeah, still in.

Actually, everything remaining on UE3 is potentially a good thing as it will be possible to use existing content mods like MEHEM with the Legendary Edition. It might require some patching, but the modding community is still very active. I can see them doing it.

I'm looking forward to completing all three for the first time. I never finished them but did do an extensive playthrough of Andromeda about a year or two ago which I know is very different on numerous levels. It's going to continue a trend that started for me last spring when I started my first complete playthrough of the Witcher games back to back. Almost done with the third now.

Timing-wise it'll be nice also because RE Village will be out and I'll also be bouncing between these and CB2077. Good times for the summer :)

Hopefully it isn't another poorly done remaster. The Crysis remaster was a let down to me. I agree that we should wait and see of course, as always, but expectations are low.

I can see what we are getting at a minimum based on the trailer. It's going to be a 4K retexture with some added post processing effects to update the game. The textures look good, but some of the post processing looks over done in some screenshots. Which people will go absolutely nuts both over processing and trying to clean up with ReShade within minutes of this game's launch.

We also know that ME1 will have UI's and controls more in line with ME2 and ME3. That game has the most changes for obvious reasons. It will also have Bring Down the Sky DLC built into it, but Pinnacle Station won't be. (For some reason.)

Bring Down the Sky was a free DLC, so why wouldn't it be in this? Especially with all paid DLCs being in the later games. Pinaccle station had no proper content, so maybe that's why it is left out. It was basically a fight with bots in virtual reality type deal. I only seen it once and it won't be missed.

Pinnacle station added similar content to what the Citadel DLC offered in ME3 beyond the story missions. You had an apartment and could go fight in a virtual arena, etc. Since they are sort of combining these games into a single thing, it would make sense to pull it for that reason. It's inferior, yet duplicate content. Beyond that, Pinnacle Station almost never worked. It was a technical fiasco.

Just read an article that the content files and source files for it were too corrupt to be used. Nobody had a good backup.

That could be true, but frankly, it really doesn't add much to the experience.

I'm going to admit reading this thread, that as many times as I have played through the series, I have no idea what 'Pinnacle Station' is. I'll have to look it up. And at this point, I think I'll just forget that it's an issue and move on...

I just watched Star Wars Episode IV (A New Hope) on Disney+. 4K, HDR 'remaster of remasters' of sorts. You can tell where the source files weren't good enough, but some scenes? Some actually do 4k justice.

I say that to say the following: not having good backups for original content that has any value whatsoever is at least fiducially negligent.

The physical media versions really pop but the streaming isn't so bad IMHO. Totally sidetracking the thread but the ones that I thought were the worst were the prequels. That early digital stuff did not age well.

Keep in mind that Pinnacle Station was not developed by BioWare. The entire thing was outsourced to Demiurge. They are the ones that ****ed this up. Given how bad the port of ME1 was, it's not surprising. They suck.

I could never get pinaccle station to function with my original Mass Effect, as I've had a localized version of the game, and they never released a localized pinaccle station installer. There was a localized BDTS installer but that also stopped working after a while, with no way to install that one either until I was able to register the game on origin.

Fun fact: the company responsible for the localized version was some noname company called "CD Projekt"
