Rockstar Announces Yet Another Delay for Grand Theft Auto VI Following Layoffs and Accusations of Union Busting

Those poor release date targets at other studios...

They either got a whole lot more time or a whole lot less...

As for myself, my interest in GTA never made the transition from 2D to 3D. Still waiting for RDR 1/2 to come down to a sub $10 price so I can buy and play them.

I need to go back and play the first one it's out on PC. I think I already bought it... not sure.

I know right? Shuffle madness in trying to avoid this and RS just keeps moving the goal posts. Well, on the flipside, and I haven't gone back to check Nov 26 titles, there's not a lot of AAA action happening in 26. I almost did a story on it last month (I think I ended up mentioning it as a side note in another story) after looking at the release schedule at PC Gamer or VGC (I forget which). There's maybe 3 or 4 for the year and a ton of indi stuff.

I hope it's because they want to launch on PC at the same time.

I got RDR2 for PC and realized it is the most boring open world game I have ever played. Didn't like how the story was going either. I don't get all the hype about it.

- That's what I'm worried about and why I really want to get RDR1 too and wait till everything is $10.

A lot of the hype around RDR2 seems to revolve around the "reactivity" of the world and all the little details Rockstar put in. I want a game not a horse ball size simulator.

That game was a slow burn, but when it finally did get its hooks in me - it was a great experience. By the end of it, it felt like the epic Western tragedy that I was expecting.

But, yeah, took me two or three attempts to get past that initial slog.

Took me several years and I forget how many restarts to finally get into it. Seriously cannot remember how many times I started a game, got about an hour in and then set it aside. For the longest time it was nothing more than another benchmarking tool until I finally was able to get into it last year and then really learned to appreciate it.

Tragedy, yeah there's a part in the game that hit me pretty hard even though I knew it was coming and the rest of the game afterward seemed more like just some kind of epilogue.

Only ever played 4 and it was ok, just ok. I’ve had 5 for years (free on EGS) but never could get into it - something about the gameplay just felt off

I've enjoyed them all since 3 went 3d. GTA that is. They play like you're in a heist/Mob movie for the most part. And I dig those.

I think I maybe got ~20% progression for V and never went back. Nothing against it, just didn't feel like going back. I remember messing around with IV on either Xbox or PS2 way back but that was about it.

To me V was a huge letdown. It just wasn't that fun, the playable characters were ranging from boring to outright repulsive. The gameplay had nothing new over IV, on the contrary the simplified physics made even the driving boring. I completed the story once and that was it for me, never went back to play again.

On the other hand I loved GTA IV, must've spent hundreds of hours just causing mayhem and driving around on top of finishing the story multiple times. And Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and the Damned expansions were even better, solidifying GTA IV as my favorite GTA ever, after Vice City, San Andreas and GTA3 in that order. GTAV would be at the very bottom of that list. (I never got into the 2D games)

I think Rockstar completely lost the plot with V, and I'm unsure if they can find it again with VI. They need to put back fun side activities. Like the turf war in San Andreas, Police / Ambulance / Firefighter missions. And for the love of god less boring dialogue from characters nobody cares about. Less moral grey area, and less gloomy ****, please. I want to feel good playing it.

Same. While RDR2 had awesome graphics and environment and I did eventually ended up enjoying the game, I remember RDR1 being a much more fun video game to play. For years I had been contemplating re-playing the game via the X360 emulator Xenia, since that provides a better experience than back-compat on current-gen or last-gen Xboxes. But I had been holding out for years for a PC version. That's one reason why I never bought the X360 version. I borrowed it from a friend and played it. Told Rockstar they could have my money if they put it on PC, for an appropriate price. Took a good while but finally showed up. So yeah I've been waiting for a good sale to grab that game. RDR2 I paid $20 for, and while that is more than I wanted to pay, in the end I wouldn't exactly say my money was wasted. But I seem to recall RDR1 being a better game. I don't want to blindly trust my memories, so I need to play through it again and re-evaluate it.

I hope it's because they want to launch on PC at the same time.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Aw man, you and your hilarious joke that we all wish was true but know it will never be true (based on their past history).

Man it took me over 30 hours before I could get into that sh1t. I'm surprised I had the patience to do that.

If that happens you're gonna be mad you didn't use your one wish on lottery numbers.
Hahahaha yeah!

But, yeah, took me two or three attempts to get past that initial slog.
While I did get through it on my first try, as I said above it took me 30 f*ck1ng hours just to start getting into it. I almost gave up on the game at multiple points before that.

I've played all since 1, only beaten a few of the 3D ones. The whole entire series has been hit or miss for me. I've enjoyed some, and didn't care for others. But I'm willing to check them all out. One thing I will say about all Rockstar games is that the controls suck. At this point it's a regular feature of their games.

4 had that notoriously sh1t PC port, saddled with GFWL on top of that, and then they had the nerve to charge whatever insane price it was at launch, after the game had long been out on console and was sold new at discount prices. 5 I think launched on PC at $40, which was far too much for such an old game by that point. They had done a remaster of the game for 8th-gen consoles (PS4 and XB1), and the PC version that came out after that was based on that version. One of those situations where I feel like the only reason we got a PC version to begin with is cuz they had done the work to port to x86-64/AMD64 for the 8th-gen consoles. But yeah still I felt they charged too much, when the PS4/XB1 version could be had brand-new for discount prices.

Something similiar will probably happen with 6's PC version. They'll release it well after the XBSX|S and PS5 version, or they'll do a remaster for the next console gen, and then after that port to PC. And probably charge too much money for it.

Yyyeeeaaahhh...

I went to a midnight launch for GTA V on 7th-gen consoles when it first came out, cuz a friend was picking it up. There were sooooo many people. I have never seen a turnout like that for a video game launch, not even for Halo 3. I used to work at EBGames (under GameStop ownership) and we never saw something like that when I was there. It was absolutely ridiculous. I was like there is no f*cking way every single one of these people are going home with a copy. It was at a strip mall GameStop, the police had a decent presence, there was a huuuge-@ss line, and the entire shopping center's parking was lot was full of cars and people. I couldn't believe so many people wanted the game, and at launch before they've even had a chance to actually play it. I guess people don't really do physical purchases anymore, but if that was still a normal thing, I wonder that the turnout would have been for 6.

GTA 4 was X360 and PS3. Original Xbox and PS2 had GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

Right in time for xbox's 25th anniversary

Can Microsoft grab this opportunity & release the xbox next at the same time ??
