So people talking about the 7900XTX reminded me I should look into this issue. I have the Sapphire Nitro+ model, and fairly recently, the RGB strip stopped working. I tried different software settings, different test OS, connecting the RGB header to my motherboard. No luck. I still don't know if this is a firmware issue or a hardware issue, as it is possible that something like OpenRGB could have broken the RGB firmware, from what I have heard. Just to be clear, the card itself seems to work fine, save for possibly causing ETQW to crash at times.

I contacted Sapphire tech support, but was unimpressed with their help, they basically started by asking for serial number and said they wouldn't help since the card is now out of warranty. I wasn't looking for a replacement card, just possible help troubleshooting the issue, possibly flashing a new firmware or something.

Any ideas or tips here? Is there another sapphire contact I could reach out to? Possibly customer service?

Wow that is disappointing when supports first role is to disqualify support. Tag them on x and post your experience. See if that changes things would be my idea.

I don't have an X account, but I can look into social media options if needed. I sent another ticket in via the Sapphire website, phrasing it a bit differently this time. Fingers crossed.

Saw this from your QuakeCON post

The issue could be from a software usage, we had a lot of issues with gigabytes ARGB software in the past.

The solution was hit and miss and kind of strange.

  • Start with removing ALL ARGB software from the system, this includes our TriXX and any other software and make sure the external control cable is not attached..

  • Next run DDU and remove all GPU drivers.

  • Now with the PC off flip the BIOS selection switch through all three positions 3 or 4 times, do this slowly. (Not sure why this is needed)

  • On reboot install the AMD drivers and then put on TriXX, see if this gives you back ARGB control on the card.

This DOES NOT always work, something seems to be corrupting the controller firmware is my guess.
