  1. Dragon Age: The Veilguard Marks a Return to Form for BioWare, First Reviews Say

I think I saw the same review. That guy probably only got a review code because his impressions and comments from the 6 hour preview experience was generally positive. Anyone that was negative or offered criticisms of that demo weren't given review codes. He's often been accused of being a...
  2. Dragon Age: The Veilguard Marks a Return to Form for BioWare, First Reviews Say

No, it isn't. Anyone who has eyes and watched any of the gameplay footage can see that this is far from a return to form for BioWare. Not only that, but very few reviewers got review codes to have day one reviews available for this game. Meaning, the people who did get them were cherry picked...
  3. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K & Ultra 5 245K CPU Review

I'm not sure that this is even possible. I think there are probably scenarios where simply adding cache doesn't help. Well, AMD had an integrated memory controller since the Athlon 64 days. However, Intel's Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad were the last CPU's to have an off-die memory controller. Though...
  4. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Can Draw Up to 370 Watts of Power, Cinebench Tests Show

The problem, since the 109xx days is that the heat spreader and TIM are limiting factors in transferring heat away from the CPU die. It's not an easy problem to solve but your right. Increasing radiator capacity, airflow etc. will only net you so much in the grand scheme of things. Going...
  5. Baldur’s Gate 3 Exec Lays Blame for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s Lackluster Sales on Ubisoft Management, Not Its Developers

Given Ubisoft's track record lately and all the leaks coming out from inside the company, I don't doubt it.
  6. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K & Ultra 5 245K CPU Review

I think they can. How they would be able to mitigate this is unclear to me but this is the type of thing Intel is typically good at engineering their way through historically. Generally speaking, Intel's CPU's have not been effected by latency to the same degree as AMD's. AMD for one reason or...
  7. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K & Ultra 5 245K CPU Review

My take: This is a transitional product that lays the ground work for future releases. This isn't remotely the first time Intel has done this. The Wilamette Socket 423 Pentium IV's were such a product. It introduced RAMBUS memory and they were often out performed by their Pentium III...
  8. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K & Ultra 5 245K CPU Review

There are people who will buy Intel even when they have no logical reason to do so. I work with a guy like that. He won't buy anything else because of the reputation non-Intel CPU's had in the 1990's.
  9. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Can Draw Up to 370 Watts of Power, Cinebench Tests Show

Except it isn't. Overclocked, Intel's 10980XE and its Xeon W-3475x pulled more than that. The former pulled well past 400w on its own at 4.8GHz. Granted, if you are going to pull that you are pretty much going to have to go to water cooling but you could get close with a good 360 AIO.
  10. Guerrilla Says It’s “Done” with Killzone Games, as Horizon Is More “Relatable for All Ages and People”

I don't think I've ever played any of the Killzone games.
  11. Squadron 42 Reveals over an Hour of New Footage as Cloud Imperium Games Announces 2026 Release Date for Single-Player Star Citizen Game

I'm not expecting much if Squadron 42 comes out at all. CIG has lost any credibility they might have had years ago.
  12. ASUS ProArt PA602 Wood Edition Unveiled with Eco-Friendly Materials, Top-End Cooling

I'll actually give ASUS credit here. I dislike a lot of case designs, especially anything I've seen that used wood. But this one looks pretty good in my opinion. I don't know how good a case it is, but I like the way it looks.
  13. Blizzard Is Nerfing One of Diablo IV’s Most Enjoyable Builds Because It’s Ruining the Experience for Other Players

The last Blizzard game I ever played was Diablo 3. I didn't care for it. After a couple hours I abandoned it and never went back. I didn't think it was that good and nostalgia for the first two games weren't enough to carry me through the 3rd one.
  14. Piracy Causes a 20% Drop in Game Revenue, Denuvo DRM Research Finds

That's often what the DEI proponents say as they hide behind the excuse of "if you are against DEI you are racist / bigot / ist / phobe" or whatever. This isn't true. A lot of critics on Youtube that complain about this stuff I've seen are calling it where its appropriate for the most part...
  15. BioWare “Trusts” Dragon Age: The Veilguard Players Not to Pirate the Game as NVIDIA Announces Limited-Time GeForce NOW Ultimate Bundle

They are already in damage control mode. EA/BioWare is going to claim piracy wrecked sales when that couldn't be further for the truth. Woke / DEI nonsense aside, the games live service underpinnings and cartoonish style worked against it from the start.
  16. Piracy Causes a 20% Drop in Game Revenue, Denuvo DRM Research Finds

Again, woke / DEI is NOT the same as organic diversity. One stands out as its forced and out of place. The other doesn't raise flags because its normal and representative of whatever geographic location and time period the story takes place in. There have been shows that were supposedly woke or...
  17. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Won’t Be Significantly More Expensive than RTX 4090, It’s Claimed

Agreed. I'm not fond of current GPU or motherboard prices either. They've gotten out of hand in the last few years. I used to be that guy who upgraded every generation and I may not be doing that going forward.
  18. PC Gamers Make Less Money than Console Players When They Grow Up, Survey Reveals

I'd also add that I grew up playing console games because my parents couldn't afford a PC. Back when I was a kid a sub-$1,000 PC that could play games didn't exist. Hell I had one friend that was into PC gaming and that's only because his family could afford a PC and his dad worked in the...
