Totally understood. I forgot about the minute difference of not having the IGPU. That KS, on the other hand, seems like it should be painted blue with a white stripe and called the Killer Shelby edition!

edit: Far, far, beyond my budget but I have to say this 9900 line up are the first Intel CPU's I've been excited about in over 5 years now.

Couple of lower end laptops, AMD A6 in one and i5 in another.
Just chucked my phenom ii x3 720BE recently, was running my desktop cnc mill, that's now my core 2 q6600 sff.
Work, I need to find the specs, but my desktop is a newer dual xeon 8/16 (16/32 total) system.
 
Home personal: 7700k
Personal Laptop: 6600h (not sure on the letter.)
Work Laptop: 7600u (POS)

Oh I should add work: Uhhh hundreds of various Xeon CPU's across hundreds of servers.
 
Got my trusty 1600X running at 4 GHz on my rig and my really old and trusty FX 8350 in my kid's gaming rig. I ran that chip at 4.8 Ghz for years but tuned it down to stock 4.0 for his PC. Let it take it easy in its golden years.

Really toying with getting a 3600X in the near future though.

Every CPU listed here except the 720 I bought used. Main riq is a i7 4960x, pfsense, i5 2390T, FreeNAS i5 3470T. Plus my stepson is running a Sandy quad, i5 2310 for 1080p gaming with no issues. I've had dozens of AMD processors. Still possess a 1100T, PhII x2 550, PhII x3 720(one of my favorites), multiple Athlons.
 
Desktop - 6850k
Laptop - 8750h
Media Server - i5 4460
PiHole - Intel Atom (not sure the model will have to check)
Phone - A12
 
My desktop gaming/work PC's got a Core i7-5930K at 4.1 GHz (didn't try for higher cuz I was pleased with the thermals in relation to the rest of the room, which also houses HDTV, CRT TV, and several generations of consoles). Laptop (freebie handout from family member) has a Core i3-3217U which is too slow for my tastes.

Just traded my 2700x for a 3600x to spruce up my daughters little gaming box

..and to add ..I can run her non-QVL memory at PC3000 (XMP Profile) stably instead of at 2866.. and she says everything "feels" smoother.

This is on an ASRock Fatal1ty B350 Gaming ITX/ac motherboard

I'd forgot what that was like with CPU/Motherboard upgrades. For the last 5 years, or so, I've mostly been upgrading GPU's and forgot how important they can be. @Dan_D was speaking about that in his reviews. The speed at which frames can be prepared really can make a difference in how a game feels.

That's not really a side grade. I suppose it could be in some instances, but for the most part it should be faster. It certainly should be faster in gaming.
 
I like the much quicker boot than the Rampage V Edition 10 and snappier feel. I just did not like losing 1/3 of the memory and two adapter cards as well as the quad channel memory. I was going to nab the new Threadripper until I saw the $1400 price tag just for the CPU. I saw the 3800X for the same price as the 3700X during Black Friday and decided to give it a try. The system did not want to boot with the memory at stock settings of 3000Mhz, CL 15-17-17-35. I finally got it to boot setting the timings to CL 16-18-18-36 and overclocked the memory to 3600Mhz.

I almost had to do that. Fortunately the X570 BIOS for mine had two profiles and the 2nd worked. Timings are near identical to what you did manually.
